Join QCT for #GivingTuesdayNow!
#GivingTuesdayNow is a global day of giving and unity that took place on 5th May 2020 as an emergency response to the unprecedented need caused by COVID-19.
Life has changed for us all in a heartbeat. There is uncertainty, but there is also so much hope, courage, and generosity. We are grateful for everyone working hard to save lives, and those supporting others through many acts of kindness. These local leaders put others first, every day.
We all know someone who has taken a step to bring out the best in people in the worst of times. At The Queen’s Commonwealth Trust, we champion, fund and connect young leaders like this, working hard to create a better world for us all. Before COVID-19 became a reality for us all, they were tackling poverty, climate change, lack of access to education, health care and sanitation and injustice in many forms. They work at the grassroots, bringing hope, jobs and resources where otherwise there would be little to none and many are now helping to tackle COVID-19 alongside their other work. We are privileged to work alongside them.
Watch the video below to see some of the actions already being taken by young leaders like Jessica Dewhurst, Iggy France and Malcolm Gertse from youth-led organisation The Justice Desk. Or, check out our Facebook, Instagram and Twitter channels to see even more updates from other inspiring young leaders!
The young leaders we support, are beacons of light and hope in their communities, but many of them are now operating in emotionally and financially uncertain times. What they do is needed, necessary, urgent and we recently announced how we are adapting and responding to help them best. By being part of the #TeamQCT community, you are also standing together alongside them. Thank you.
How you can celebrate #GivingTuesdayNow through a 'stop and give' moment this May
If you are inspired by the work of the young leaders that QCT supports, and want to join forces to support them further, you can do just that!
Join us for #GivingTuesdayNow throughout May, and take 5 minutes for a “stop and give” moment. Here's how to get involved:
Think about what you have stopped doing as a result of the lockdown - maybe you have stopped your daily commute, or stopped eating your favourite pastry in the morning, or had to give up going to your favourite restaurant...
Donate the cost of one thing you are not doing today by clicking here. Whether it is your tube fare, a restaurant meal or a gym class, anything you can give is appreciated.
Tell us about it! Send us an email or tag us on social media using the hashtag '#TeamQCT', and encourage your friends and family to get involved! Show us photos of what you have stopped doing and help support more young leaders continue their work.
Pin your giving story on the GivingTuesday Map, and join a global community in giving thanks and giving back!
